Having started his full time package tour and custom guiding in the year 2012, Tshering Wangdi has since led tours consisting of a single person to groups as large as 30 individuals in the last 7 years of his service to the tourism industry. A father to two amazing boys, Tshering is gifted with a good sense of humor and an ability to adjust to and entertain any additional requests from the guests. He serves MyBhutan as a registered guide; a very dedicated service provider who has earned the trust and appreciation from the rest of the team at MyBhutan.

Here are some excerpts from an interview with MyBhutan:

1. How long have you been a guide for?

I started my full time package tour and custom guiding career in 2012.

2. What do you like about guiding and what are some of the things you wish you could change?

Since Bhutan is a very unique tourism destination with amazingly rich cultural and traditional values, I like being in a position where I am able to explore and present it to the outside world.

I wish the Guide Association and the Tourism Council of Bhutan would conduct more enhanced courses on hikes, walks, trekking, birding, GNH and culture.

3. What do you think MyBhutan does that is different from the rest?

MyBhutan is the only agent in Bhutan that customizes and presents unique eco-friendly packages to its guests; and how it manages each guest with utmost care is what makes MyBhutan different from the rest.

4. Any memorable guiding experiences you would like to share with us?

One of the most interesting and memorable experience as a guide was with a guest who was going through a painful separation after 15 years of togetherness. I am proud to say his trip to Bhutan helped him forget his painful past and the last I heard from him, he is living a very happy life as a single parent.

5. What makes you unique as a guide?

I feel I am unique from the rest because of the fact that I am a fun, loving guide with a very good sense of humor and with the special ability to adopt and address any additional requests of my guests. I am also very caring and easily get along well with any guest.

6. Which is your favorite part of Bhutan? Why?

The stunning valley of Gangtey is my favorite place in Bhutan, the valley we refer to as the Shangri-La of Bhutan. I like Gangtey for the attractive scenic views and the beautiful mountain trails.
